Exercises Unit 14: Shape Animation

Exercise 1: Slug crawling

1 Open it with File → New.

2 Use the Pencil Tool.

3 Right click the first frame and choose the option Properties (or open the properties panel and click the first frame). In the drop-down box Animate of the Properties Panel select the option Shape

Now click on the frame 20 and press F6. In the same frame, drag the slug from one side to the other of the stage and by Subselection Tool modify its shape.

4 Save it with File → Save As and name it slug.fla.

Exercise 2: Change of Shape and Size

1 Open the file with File → Open.

2 Select the frame 10. Create a keframe and move the object up the lower part of the stage and increase its size. The lower part always seems to be near.

3 Select the Paint Bucket Tool, choose a new color and press on the previous filling.

Exercise 3: Changing Text Shape

1 Create keyframe where introduce a letter of your name in the middle of the stage.

2 Select the created letter and activate the option Modify → Break Apart .

Rightclick the first frame and choose the option Properties (or open the properties panel and click in the first frame). In the drop-down box Animate of the Properties Panel select the option Shape.

Go five frames ahead and press F6. Erase the letter and write the following one.

Repeat step 2 until you have written all the letters.

3 Do this using the Painting Bucket and the free Transformation Tool (for Scale).

Exercise 4: Shape Hints

1 Use the Pen Tool.

2 Right click the frame that contains the arrow and choose the option Properties (or open the properties panel and click in the frame that contains the arrow). In the drop-down box Animate of the Properties Panel select the option Shape.

Go to the frame 20 and press F6.

Invert the image of the frame 20 to set its final position by Modify → Transform → Flip Horizontally and place it so that its end and the begining of the original arrow coincide.

If we execute the animation now we wouldn't obtain the wanted effect.

3 In the frame 1, active the option Modify → Shape → Add Shape Hint to add a new shapehint. Place it in one of the corners of the arrow and look at the frame 20 to place the created shape hint in the corner that corresponds to the previous one.

Repeat this last for all the corners. So that it remains as the figure above.
