Theme 5 Exercise help : MANIPULATING CELLS (III)



Exercise 6: Race2 .

In part 2 we are asked to move a range using the clipboard:

 

1 Select the range to move A8:H15 .

2 Go to the Edit menu.

3 Select the Cut option.

4 Situate yourself where we want to move the range to, that is, clic on cell C9.

5 Go to the Edit menu.

6 Select the Paste option.

Observe how though we were situated only in cell C9, the range was correctly copied to the corresponding cells.

We could also have used the button on the toolbar to cut and paste, but we will use this in part 4.

 

In part 3 we are asked to move a range without using the clipboard.

 

1 Select the range to move, C9:J16 .

2 Situate yourself over any border of the selection until the pointer takes this shape puntero selección .

3 Click on and drag the mouse till where we want to move the range to, that is, till the first cell of the selection is in cell A8.

Observe how as we move the mouse Excel2003 indicates to us in box how the range will remain if we release the mouse button.

4 Release the mouse button.

 

In part 4 we are asked for the same as in step 2, only now we will use the buttons on the toolbar in place of the menu.

1 Select the range to move, F6:H15 .

2 Click on the botón cortar button on the toolbar.

If the clipboard bar window appears in the right part of the window, close it with the button corresponding this bar.

3 Situate yourself where we want to move the range to, clic on cell 16.

4 Click on the paste botón copiar button on the toolbar.

In part 5 we are asked to leave the range where we were before without using the clipboard.

1 Select the range I6:K15 .

2 Situate yourself over the selection border and drag untill the first cell reaches cell F6.

In part 6 we are asked to move the range A1:E2 to the same position but in sheet2:

1 Select the range A1:E2 .

2 Situate yoursef over the selection border to displace the range.

3 Use the ALT tab to change sheets.

In part 7 we are asked to erase only the contents of the range C8:E8, and so we will follow these steps:

1 Select the range C8:E8 .

2 Go to the Edit menu.

3 Select the Delete option, and if not availible clic on the button to extend the list, and wait for the new list to where we select the desired option.

4 Select the Contents option.

Steps 2-4 can be performed directly by pressing on the DEL tab of the keyboard.

Part 8 only consists of writing new values.

In part 9 we are asked to only change the format in the range C4:E4, and so we will:

1 Select the range C4:E4.

2 Go to the Edit menu.

3 Select the Delete option,

4 Select the Formats option.

In part 10 we are to delete only the contents of the cells, and so we need to do the same as in step 2 but now without the menu.

1 Select the ranges A17 and C17:E17 with the CTRL tab for discontinuous ranges..

2 Press the DEL tab.

Observe how the cell formats are the same.

As in part 11, the range A16:H18: already does not interest us.

1 Selet the range A16:H18.

2 Go to the Edit menu.

3 Select the Delete option.

4 Select the All option.

Now in part 12 we are asked to only delete the fill colour of the range A1:H2, if we use the Delete Formats option the alignment and source of the cells will also be eliminated, and so we can not use the cell delete option, the ony thing we can do is to remove the pattern format from the Cell Formats:

 

1 Select the range A1:H2.

2 Go to the Format menu.

3 Select the Cells.. option.

4 Select the Patterns tab.

5 Click on the No color option to eliminate the fill color.

6 Click on OK.
