1 If Excel2003 is not open, open it in order to perform the exercise. 2 Open the Fruit sales book found in the Exercises folder in the course. We are going to increase the height of rows 1 and 2, first from the menu, and then later manually. 3 Select row 1. 4 Select the Format menu. 5 Select the Row option. 6 Select the Height... option. 7 Write the height as 30. 8 Click on OK. Observe the result. Now we will change the height of row 2. 9 Place the mouse pointer on the line situated beneath the row 2 number, in the row header. The pointer takes the shape of an arrow with two points . 10 Maintain the mouse depressed and drag untill we have the desired height in the, that is, 30,00. 11 Release the mouse button. Observe the result. We can also extend the height by various rows at the same time,eg we are going to change the height of rows 5-12 to 15. 12 Select rows 5-12. 13 Place the mouse pointer on the line situated beneath the row 12 number, in the row header. The pointer takes the shape of an arrow with two points . 14 Maintain the mouse depressed, and drag till we have the desired height, that is, 15,00. 15 Release the mouse button. Observe the result. Let's assume that we do not want the height in row 1 and 2 to be 30, but rather for it to return to the automatic height (according to contents), this is what is known as Autofit. 16 Select rows 1 and 2. 17 Drop down the Format menu. 18 Select the Row option. 19 Select the Autofit option. Observe how the height is reduced until it aquires the necessary height for the text in the cell to fit. We will now perform the same operation to rows 5-12, but without using the menu. 20 Select rows 5-12. 21 Place the mouse pointer on the line situated beneath the row 12 number, in the row header. The pointer takes the shape of an arrow with two points . 22 Double click. Observe the result. 23 Close the workbook without saving the changes.
