Practice the different printing options availible in Excel.
Step by step exercise.
1 If Excel2003 is not open, open it in order to perform the exercise.
2 Open the Fruit sales workbook, found in the exercises folder of the course.
We are first going to check what our sheet looks like before printing it.
3 Drop down the File menu.
4 Select the Print preview button.
Or, click on the Print preview button on the toolbar.
The Print preview dialogue box will appear.
Observe how in the part at the bottom of Excel2003, it is indicated that our sheet occupies 2 pages as it is too wide.
5 Click on the button to show the second page of the sheet.
6 Click on the button to go back to the first page.
As we are going to perform some modifications we will exit from Print preview.
7 Clic on the button to go back to the calculation sheet.
We are going to indicate that our page should be printed horizontally, for this:
8 Select the File menu.
9 Select the Page setup... option.
10 Situated in the first Page tab, activate the Horizontal option of the Orientation box.
11 Clic on Accept.
We return to Print preview.
12 Click on the button on the toolbar.
Observe the result. As the title cannot be seen well we will enlarge it.
13 Situate the mouse over the title and clic.
Observe how it draws near the page.
14 Click again on the sheet.
Observe how it now draws away from the page.
15 Click on the button on the toolbar.
16 Click on the button again.
17 Click on the button to return to the worksheet.
18 Shift to the right using the scroll bar.
Observe how at some moment a discontinuous line appears, indicating to us that the page skips at this position..
19 Select the File menu.
20 Select the Page setup... option.
21 While situated in the first Page tab, activate the Fit to 1 page wide by 1 page tall option in the Scaling box.
22 Click on Accept.
23 Click on the button on the toolbar.
Observe how it all fits on one page now.
24 Click on the button to return.
We will now modify the margins:
25 Select the File menu.
26 Select the Page setup... option.
27 Click on the Margins tab.
28 Write 3 in the Top, Botton, Left, and Right boxes.
En los recuadros Superior, Inferior, Derecho e Izquierdo, escribe 3.
29 Click on Print preview to go there directly.
We will now vertically center the data in the calculation sheet:
30 Click on the button on the toolbar.
31 Click on the Vertically option of the Center on Page button.
32 Click on Accept.
Observe the result in the print preview.
33 Click on the button to return.
We can now print the sheet, we want two copies; but it would be wise to save the changes first.
34 Click on the button on the toolbar.
35 Go to the File menu.
36 Select the Print... option.
The Print dialogue box will appear.
37 Write 2 in the Number of copies box to print two copies.
Make sure that the printer is connected.
38 Click on Accept.
39 Close the worbook after saving the changes.
