Theme 10. Advanced. Page header and footer. |
We are going to look at how to add a page header or footer to every page to print.
Modify the header or footer of a page. |
A header is printed text at the top of each page, while a footer is printed text at the bottom of each page. The steps to create a page header or footer are the following: 1 Go to the File menu. 2 Select the Page setup... option. 3 Click on the Header/Footer tab.
There are two boxes, in our case both empty as we have no header of footer assigned to our worksheet. This is also indicated to us in the boxes as (none). Click on the arrow to the right to see a list of the possible page headers and footers to use. If you want to modify the header, click on the Custom Header... button, and if you want to modify the page footer then click on the Custom Footer... button.
In either case, the next steps to take are the same. The following dialog box will appear: Excel divides the page header and footer into three sections, depending on where we want the contents of the header or footer to appear. Click in the chosen section and write the desired text. A few buttons exist that serve to introduce codes or to modify the aspect of the page header or footer.
When we click on this button the Font dialog box will appear, as studied earlier in the course. By clicking on this button, &[Page] will appear in the section we are in, in such a way that when printing the sheet the number corresponding the printed sheet will appear. By clicking on this button, &[Pages] appears, and at the time of printing the total number of pages will appear. By clicking on this button &[Date] appears, and the imprint appears with the real date. By clicking on this button &[Time] appears, and the imprint appears with the real time. By clicking on this button [Path]&[File] appear, and the imprint appears with the full name of the workbook. By clicking on this button &[File] appears, and the imprint appears with the name of the workbook. By clicking on this button & [Tab] appears, and the imprint will appear with the name of the printed sheet. When we click on this button a dialog box appears in order to select the image to insert, and once this is selected in the header or footer box it will put &[Image], and the selected image will appear in the imprint. It can also be used to include the Logotype of a business for example. This button will only be active in case of having added an image in the page header or footer. By clicking on this button the Format picture dialogue box will appear in order to select the desired changes in the aspect of the image.
Perform the desired modifications and click on OK.
