How to use this tutorial

This tutorial purpose is that anyone can learn to use Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.

Navigation

To move yourself around the course you have the navigation bar seen at the top of the page.

With the advance icon you will go to the next page, with the go back icon you will go to the previous page, it is as if you were paging through a book.

With the home button you will go to the teacherClick principal page.

With the help icon you will be redirected to this page.

To go to a specific page you can use any of these two methods:

1.- Go to the detail index page and click on the part or point that you wish to consult.

2.- Use the drop down index on the upper navigation bar, which functions in this way: On placing the cursor over "Dreamweaver course" a menu with the themes will drop down, when you are situated over a theme, a menu will unfold with the points in this theme, and on clicking on either one of these you will pass to the corresponding page.

At the end of each page you also have the go back , or go to index , or advace arrows. When we are in an exercise page these arrows will advance us to the next exercise, or previous exercise, whilst the will return us to the corresponding theme.

NOTE: Both the drop down index and the arrows do not function until the page has been loaded.

F11. If you are using Explorer it is recommendable to use the F11 key to gain space on the screen. You can try it now, to return the the screen to normal press F11 again.

Course structure.

When following software manuals every reader will skip the paragraphs that do not interest him as the information might be too complex or too basic for his level. This course tries to alleviate this problem by organising the contents into levels. We have established 3 levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced.

How do we browse these levels? The course has a trunk structure which is average, but in points considered oportune, icons have been included with which to access other levels. To return to the level where you were you just need to clic on the advance arrow on the toolbar, or the arrow at the end of the page.

That is, once you have read an explanation on intermediate level you might in some cases find this icon to go to the basic level in order to be explained simpler concepts related to this theme. On other occasions you might come across this icon to go to the advanced level where you will be explained more advanced options etc.

The drop down index before the names of the basic themes there is a (b) and in the advanced an (a).

If this is the first time you have followe this course it may be a good idea to leave the advanced levels for the next reading.

Levels are identified by colored headers.

Basic level.

Intermediate level.

Advanced level.

This way you know in each momnt on what level you are.

Terminology.

In green are written the names of keys, option names, and predermined Dreamweaver values which the user can select. In brown are the names of windows, dialog boxes and sections. In bold cursive we have the names of objects created by the user and values that need to be written (eg names of sheets, references, text that needs to be typed etc...) and in blue are the theme essentials.

Animated sequences.

By clicking on this icon you can access the animated sequences, viewlets, in which you can clearly see the explications. To see them you will need the Flash plugin which most browsers have incorporated already. If you cannot see the sequences you can download it here.
