Step by step exercise. Unit 6. Creating an image map
To Practice the operations used to create an image map.
1 You need to open Dreamweaver program in order to perform the exercise.
2 If the File panel doesn't show up, open it through Window menu, and then the Files option.
3 Select Animals in the Files panel.
4 Click twice on home.htm document, found in the Files panel .
The document will be opened in Dreamweaver.
5 If the Properties inspector doesn't show up, open it through the Window menu, and then the Properties option.
6 Select the image by clicking on it.
7 If the Properties inspector doesn't show up completely, click on the button to unfold its advanced properties.
8 Click on the Interactive poligonal zone tool button of the Properties inspector.
9 Click, clockwise, around the dog's shape until surround it completely.
10 Click on the Interactive zone leader tool button of the Properties inspector, to delimit the map.
11 Click on the Interactive poligonal zone tool button of the Properties inspector.
12 Click, clockwise, around cat's shape until surroudit completely.
13 Click on the Interactive zone leader tool of the Properties inspector.
14 Click on the dog's map.
15 In the Link option of the Properties inspector - write dogs.htm.
16 Click on the cat's map.
17 In the Link option of the Properties inspector - write cats.htm.
18 Click outside of the text to deselect it and in this way to apply the last change.
19 Press F12 to see the result on your browser. Verify that when you put the mouse's curser over the dog, the link to dogs.htm appears in the status bar, and when you put it on the cat's silhouette it shows you the link to cats.htm.
20 Close the browser window
21 Click on the Save button of the standard toolbar.
